The Thousand Oaks High softball team has risen to the top of the Marmonte League standings.

Behind lights-out pitching from senior Jackie Manzer and sophomore Taylor Yamek, the Lancers won their first six league contests and hold a one-game lead over Simi Valley, which is 5-1 in Marmonte League play.

Thousand Oaks was 11-1 overall entering Tuesday's game in the Best of the West tournament at Santa Maria.

Manzer, in particular, has posted eye-opening numbers from the circle despite a lingering arm ailment.

She entered spring break with a 70 record and 0.40 ERA, striking out 86 batters in her first 53 innings of work.

In addition, Manzer had six complete games, five shutouts and a save to her credit.

Yamek isn't doing too shabby, either, sporting a 3-1 record and 1.11 ERA through her first 19 innings of action.

The Lancers' top hitters have been freshman Kanani Datan, who's batting .389, and sophomore Paris Shipp.

Shipp leads the squad with 10 RBI and is second to Datan with a .324 average.
