Public hearings are scheduled

2009-04-16 / Community

Public hearings scheduled for the April 21 City Council meeting include proposed increases in various user fees, which are charges for services provided by the city.

Costs that involve the city clerk, community and cultural services and several other departments may be subject to the proposed fee hikes. An increase in theater rental rates and community development use fees are expected to be proposed in the fall. An amendment to the municipal code regarding setting fines by resolution is also expected to be put to a vote.

A public hearing on the proposal to spend $673,000 of community development block grant money to benefit low-income people is also expected.

Another public hearing will address storm water disposal.

Water will also be the topic of a public hearing to address nonresidential condominium users and clarify the industrial waste discharge program. The hearing will deal with eliminating standby charges, deferred payment and connection fees. Adapting new water conservation measures will also be discussed.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
