One City, One Book kicks off with music and prizes
The Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library will present The Power of Music and the Written Word to celebrate the announcement of the 2009 One City, One Book selection at 1:30 p.m. Sat., April 18 in the Grant Brimhall/ Thousand Oaks Library Community Room, 1401 E. Janss Road.
The community is invited. The program celebrates the library and the concept behind One City, One Book: an entire community reading and discussing the same book.
The program will feature performances by the Conjeo Youth Orchestra Quartet and the Silver Strings.
Attendees will have the chance to win door prizes and VIP tickets to the author event on Nov. 14.
Book Club leaders will be able to register and reserve a Book Club in a Bag, which will include enough library copies of the new book selection for the entire book club, along with discussion questions and an author biography. Copies of the book will also be for sale.
