Coming into real estate at the beginning of the boom market gave them the chance to learn quickly how to make their offers stand out from others and their listings move at the best price in the neighborhood.

"Of course, all that's changed," said Barbara. "Today the business is about short sales, REO's, bankruptcy and distressed selling. It's been a wonderful market for any buyer who can get financing."

So the husband/wife team have adapted to the new market conditions, often being counselors as well as real estate agents.

"This is an emotional market," Barbara said, "And it requires sensitivity and savvy. We offer both, and are encouraged by signs that the real estate market in the Valley and some communities in Ventura County are beginning to stabilize."
