Speaker says positive parenting should include factual dicussions of sex and sexuality
      Nearly 20 parents came together last week in Los Cerritos Middle School's multipurpose room to get advice on talking about sex with their children. "Sex and Sexuality, Your Teen" was led by guest speaker Brenda Hunter. Conejo Council Parent-Teacher Association hosted the free seminar.

      An Easter Eggstravaganza will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sat., April 11 at The Lakes shopping center, 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. The event will include an egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, petting zoo and prize raffle.

The 'Y' seeks money
      The Southeast Ventura County YMCA and its four branches have ended a sixweek annual fundraiser called the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The goal was to raise $405,000 from individuals and businesses through March. Funds will provide financial aid to families in need and to help subsidize the cost of YMCA programs.

      Students participating in the 25th Youth Congress presented by the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation are going green. The April 4 summit will focus on challenges the region faces in contributing to a more ecologically friendly world, said Karen Malatesta, executive director of the foundation.

Senior citizens promote book reading
      HELPING OTHERS- More than 14 bags of books are delivered to the Book Bag, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy and the love of reading. Residents of University Village, a retirement community near the campus of Cal Lutheran University, donated more than 250 books from their library.

Neighborhood center open house will include car seat safety
      Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Sat., April 4 at its new Neighborhood City Center for Young Children, 110 S. Conejo School Road (next to The Lakes), Thousand Oaks. The event will include a Car Seat Safety Education Session conducted by the Ventura County Fire Department and Safe Kids Worldwide.

YMCA adds two to board of managers
      Two new members have been added to the board of managers of the Miller Family YMCA serving Newbury Park. Samuel E. Gasowski is a Newbury Park resident and an attorney. He is the former chair of the ABA-YLD's Intellectual Property and Internet Law Committee and the vice-chair of the ABAYLD's Intellectual Property Law Committee.
