More than 300 Westlake Women's Club members packed the Hyatt Westlake Plaza ballroom March 27 for the group's annual luncheon and fashion show fundraiser.

Westlake Women's Club president Karen Bradley addressed the group, thanking the women for their support.

"In 2008, we were able to allocate $71,000 back into our community," Bradley said. "With your help, we gave back to nine high schools and 30 local and regional nonprofits that are meeting the needs of this community."

Bouquets of purple hydrangeas and pink roses sat in the center of dozens of tables as ladies lunched on arugula salad, chicken cordon bleu and chocolate lava cake.

After lunch, The Oaks mall presented "Fashions on Parade," showcasing clothing from Macy's, Nordstrom, Kate Spade, Gap and Anthropologie, among others.

Music from Fergie, Duffy and John Legend played while brightcolored casual wear and gemstoned evening gowns dominated the runway.

The women erupted in applause and cheers as the male models emerged on the runway dressed in Banana Republic shirts and Dockers cargo pants. An opera singer performed ballads during the show.

Last year, with about the same number in attendance, the luncheon raised about $30,000, said Claudia Salfen, event chair. Organizers don't yet have an amount for this year's event.

"I'd never done anything like a fashion show before, and I'd never worked with women like these," Salfen said. "I was so impressed with their abilities. These are women who've been stayathome moms and wives. . . . But that didn't keep them from mastering all these skills, publicity, photography. They can do anything."
