Locals earn all-county honors in basketball

Newbury Park High senior forward Doris Park-Sherman has been named the Ventura County Basketball Coaches Association's Player of the Year for girls' hoops.

Nori Parvin, the Panthers' longtime leader, is the county's Coach of the Year.

Local girls' players who were named firstteam AllVentura County include Oak Park's Lauren Varney; Taylor Ignoto of Westlake; Oaks Christian's Katie Brooks; and Jenna Bandy and Karina Alofaituli from Thousand Oaks.

On the boys' side, Simi Valley's Brad Lewis was named Player of the Year.

TOHS' Richard Endres and Dan Larson of Ventura are cocoaches of the year.

Area first-team all-county boys' members include Agoura's Stephan Hicks; Evan Smith of Calabasas; Newbury Park's Charles Benton; Alec Hess from Westlake; Sam Levine of Oaks Park; Oaks Christian's Tyler McGrath; and Antonio Lopez and Alex Tiffin of Thousand Oaks.
