      Newbury Park A male, 57, who allegedly battered and threatened to kill his wife, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. March 19 in the 400 block of Havenside Avenue. A female, 19, was stopped for playing her car stereo too loud and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:25 a.m. March 15 at Ruth and Frankie drives.

New chief deputy is appointed by Ventura County sheriff
      David Tennessen has been appointed chief deputy by Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks. He will start the position April 5. Tennessen has worked more than 30 years with the sheriff's department and is currently serving as commander of the Human Resources Bureau.
