The school district is full of deceit
As part of Conejo Valley Unified School District's justification for placement of the MATES (Meadows Art and Technology Elementary School) charter campus at Glenwood instead of Meadows on Jan. 21, it stated that option would "require onetime facilities modifications to Glenwood that could cost as much as $300,000."
Now that cost has ballooned to $700,000. If CVUSD was hoping to get $226,800 a year by placing the Jewish Day School at Meadows, it will take a minimum of three years and one month to see a cent of benefit- - it will likely take longer because they've completely ignored the lost revenue from students leaving CVUSD to attend that private school.
The decision to place the MATES conversion charter at Glenwood was a blatant violation of charter law. Now we learn that the financial estimates CVUSD used to justify placement of MATES at Glenwood were grossly understated. Finally we see CVUSD trying to sweep all of this under the rug so that no one will notice.
Are there no limits to the deceit and incompetence of the CVUSD staff? Lily Duong Thousand Oaks
