Vehicle crash causes traffic jam during morning rush hour

Three accidents that occurred in quick succession on the 101 Freeway during rush hour Tuesday morning had a lot in common, according to California Highway Patrol officer Steve Hunsaker.

"All had very minor injuries because all of those involved were wearing safety belts," Hunsaker said.

First, at around 8 a.m., three cars crashed on the northbound 101 just south of Moorpark Road.

A few minutes later, another three cars crashed on the northbound 101 south of Moorpark Road. Soon afterward, another two cars were involved in an accident on the northbound 101 just south of the 23 Freeway.

"Sometimes it's like dominoes," Hunsaker said.

He recommended that drivers keep a "high visual horizon" by looking down the road ahead of them while keeping their eyes on what's going on directly in front of them.
