Training will be offered by city's disaster response team

The Thousand Oaks Disaster Assistance Response Team is an allvolunteer disaster response and community action team dedicated to training its members and educating residents in emergency preparation and response.

DART is seeking new members and offering a series of free classes required for acceptance onto the team. Any potential new member must have completed the training within the last two years before enrolling into the DART program.

Classes will meet at the Thousand Oaks Police Department community education room, 2101 E. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Participants are expected to attend all sessions.

Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, April 6, 20 and 27, and May 4 and 11. Two Saturday classes are also scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 and 16.

DART is funded by the city of Thousand Oaks, certified by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services and is administered by the Thousand Oaks Police Department.

Preregistration is required.
