CROP Walk was a huge success
The 31st annual Conejo Valley CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk took place on March 8 at the Cal Lutheran University sports complex.
It was organized by Sherrill Hyink.
It was a perfect day for hundreds of walkers. Colorful CROP Walk T-shirts were proudly worn by walkers who had raised $150 or more in sponsorships for the nonprofit fund to relieve hunger locally and internationally.
Funds were designated for the Conejo Valley and Westlake Village Meals on Wheels, Manna, Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services. This year for the first time a Campus Stroll was instituted for the seniors, handicapped and others unable to walk the full distance of 6.2 miles. The stroll was about a quarter of a mile, and was led by Kevin Holt, a junior student. He described points of interest, such as the statue of Martin Luther and the beautiful chapel with its magnificent stained glass windows and impressive organ.
It was a memorable experience. Martha S. Sowell Thousand Oaks
