UCLA offers seminars on losing weight
In a series of free programs, UCLA experts will present the latest options in weightloss surgery and discuss the impact of surgery in helping reduce lifethreatening conditions associated with morbid obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure and obstructive sleep apnea.
In conjunction with aggressive lifestyle changes, bariatric surgery provides morbidly obese patients with a tool to combat these illnesses, which also include other chronic conditions such as fatty liver, reflux and premature joint diseases.
Longterm studies have demonstrated bariatric surgery's effectiveness in resolving or improving these conditions in more than 85 percent of patients.
To learn more, the UCLA Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program is offering free information seminars in April and May. To register or for more information, visit www.bariatrics. ucla.edu or call (310) 825-7163.
