Emily Oettinger, a junior at the University of Southern California, has been elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society in the United States.
Phi Beta Kappa was established in 1776, and only the top colleges and universities have chapters. Membership is limited to students with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher and, at USC, fewer than 90 students were honored out of more than 7,000.
Oettinger is majoring in psychology and is spending the spring semester in an overseas study program in Prague, Czech Republic.
She's a resident of Thousand Oaks and attended Westlake High School.
