A second store will reduce the traffic in Newbury Park

Let me get this straight. Quality of life applies only to Westlake Village residents?

In Newbury Park we have 2,500 new homes in Dos Vientos, and we have a Home Depot, Staples, Party Store, etc., and a huge commercial center at Wendy and the 101 Freeway. Traffic? Yes. Should Newbury Park have all the congestion? No. I'd love to go to Home Depot on the weekends, but it's a zoo. Opening another Home Depot would lessen the traffic in Newbury Park, and I'm sure many Westlake Village residents would like to shop locally, as opposed to driving to Newbury Park. Fair is fair.

Let's thin out the traffic in one area. I used to shop at Kmart when it had a lumber section, and I don't remember a traffic problem. The area on Hampshire is zoned commercially, and the impact of another Home Depot wouldn't create the congestion that some people fear.

It might create some competition for the Do-it Center, but I believe competition is good for the community. Come on, Westlake, let's share the traffic. Newbury Park deserves consideration, too. Marty Ryzak Newbury Park
