The Hillcrest Players will present "The Smartest Woman in the Kingdom," a humorous twist on a fairy tale, at 1 and 3 p.m. Sat., March 28 and April 4 at Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The play is written by Robert W. LaVohn and directed by Laura Mason.

The story revolves around Prince Eldric the Dimwitted, who must marry the smartest common woman in the kingdom by midnight tomorrow or lose the throne to his evil cousin Duncan the Devious, which means Eldric cannot marry the woman he loves, the wizard Merlene. Duncan kidnaps the prince, and Genevieve of the shire, a determined swordswoman, must rescue Eldric and save the kingdom.

Hillcrest Players is a program for children ages 7 to 15 as presented by the Young Artists Ensemble youth company of Thousand Oaks.

Tickets are $9.
