The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic announces the opening of a new recital hall in the Paseo Marketplace at 3749 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village.

Principals at the Paseo Marketplace offered the site to the performing arts group in support of the Philharmonic's mission to give solo performance opportunities to young artists in the region with the professional orchestra it sponsors.

The grand opening of the recital hall will be March 20, 21 and 22 with a series of solo recitals. Several alumni soloists with the Philharmonic will be part of the Solo Recital Project 3 series, to celebrate the new recital hall and raise funds for the Philharmonic.

The first recital will start at 7 p.m. Fri., March 20. The recitals continue at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with performances scheduled approximately every 90 minutes.

Scheduled performers are pianists who will each play a solo recital. They are Yasha Yahknis, 16, of Newbury Park; Michael Aspinwall, 15, of Calabasas; Sydni Adler, 18, of Agoura Hills; Daniel Lessler, 18, of Somis; Landon Baumgard, 21, of Moorpark; Bruno Ferrari, 18, of Ojai; Andrew and Jason Chen, 16, of Oak Park; Vivian Shen, 15, of Agoura Hills; and Alexander Agate, 14, of Moorpark.

Suggested donations at the door are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors age 60 and up.

The Philharmonic, a nonprofit organization, offers an annual series of three concerts performed at both Camarillo United Methodist Church and the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Additional sponsored performances have included solo and chamber music recitals given by young artists throughout the year, usually held in private homes. The new recital hall will be the future central performance venue for these solo and chamber music performances.

Keyboard Concepts of Agoura Hills has provided the Philharmonic the use of a German-made Schimmel concert grand piano for all performances.
