Movie makers help the economy

2009-03-12 / Letters

Our entire family is "sharing our wealth" earned in the movie business with our fellow Americans here in California, when we are fortunate to be working. We have watched production run away to New Mexico, New York, South Carolina and Canada at an alarming rate.

A "$100-million state giveaway" Forrest Frields of Thousand Oaks refers to in his March 5 letter could have stopped this runaway. Our entire family is hardworking "below the line" family folk and not elitist, as Jeff Wissot writes about in his March 5 letter from Westlake Village. Movies and television shows are a big business with lots of workers, income tax dollars and revenue via sales and property taxes. All of our big family contributes to the very well-being of our community.

By the way, none of us is without hope. Donna Shaw Westlake Village
