If quality of life matters, send Home Depot away
One of your letter writers said she attended the planning commission meeting with 40 of her neighbors supporting the proposed Home Depot in Westlake Village.
She must have been including all the Home Depot lawyers and their other employees in attendance. I, too, was there and spoke in opposition, and there were many more concerned citizens who spoke against the Home Depot project.
The issues are simply traffic, noise in a neighborhood environment, pollution caused by large trucks making numerous deliveries in a neighborhood in early morning hours.
Anybody who drives in that area knows it's a difficult intersection to deal with now. It will be gridlocked if the project goes through- - all this to add a fourth Home Depot in addition to Newbury Park, Camarillo and Oxnard.
Incidentally all these other Home Depots are in "big box" store areas and not neighborhoods. If they can get this approved, maybe they should think about putting one on the North Ranch golf course.
I'm sure those residents would welcome the jobs Home Depot could provide, and they wouldn't have to spend five or 10 minutes to drive to the other four Home Depots.
Quality of life doesn't mean another Home Depot in an area already saturated with them. Bill Karm Westlake Village
