      The Thousand Oaks High girls' basketball team's magnificent postseason run ended with a 79-43 loss to state powerhouse Brea Olinda in a CIF-Southern Section Division IIAA semifinal game last Saturday night at Newbury Park High.

OCHS girls' soccer squad upset by South Torrance
      A highly successful season for the Oaks Christian girls' soccer team ended Tuesday with a 1-0 loss to South Torrance in the CIFSouthern Section Division V semifinals. It's only the second time in the last seven years that OCHS (222) has failed to make the section title game. Oaks Christian, a fivetime CIF-SS champion, also lost in the 2005 semifinals.

      It can be lonely at the top. Eight local high school grapplers have advanced to this weekend's CIF State Championships at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield.

USA Field Hockey relying on area athletes to produce
      Several local athletes will represent USA Field Hockey at the 2009 Men's Pan American Cup, to be held today through March 15 in Santiago, Chile. Players from the city of Moorpark include Jed Cunningham, Jonathan Ginolfi, Pat Harris and Sean Harris.

TOHS tennis players honored
      The Conejo Recreation and Park District honored Thousand Oaks High tennis players Denis Lin and Kyle McMorrow with its Young Athlete Recognition Award. The two Lancers were nominated by head coach Dave Assorson for their accomplishments as juniors in 2008.

      All season long it seemed as if the Oaks Christian boys' basketball team could do no wrong. Against Chaminade last Friday night, however, OCHS could do no right.

Viewpoint boys unable to find net vs. Mountain View
League champion Patriots finish with 15 wins
      The Viewpoint boys' soccer season came to an end Tuesday when the Patriots fell on the road to Mountain View, 1-0, in the CIF-Southern Section Division VI semifinals. The game's only goal came from Mountain View's Diego Rodriquez in the 60th minute.

SAS Kickers take league championship
