Sees no advantage in new Home Depot
I'm not sure how one could turn the proposed Home Depot site into a political partisan issue, as was done in your Feb. 19 issue; however, one might say that leasing the old Kmart location on Hampshire Road in Westlake Village to a use that is needed by our community would be much more responsible.
A Home Depot would put many local stores out of business.
How is that responsible action for our community, especially when we certainly don't need a Home Depot?
Has anyone ever considered an ice-skating rink? The popularity of The Lakes tiny ice rink shows that our community could use a closer rink for our teens and teams, other than driving to Simi Valley or Oxnard.
Rinks would create jobs and revenue for our community, while simultaneously providing our children with a safe alternative to "hanging out."
Maybe Ronald Reagan (and Obama supporters) would think that idea is responsible, too, Mr. Whitney (T.O. Acorn Feb. 19 letters, "Not approving Home Depot would be irresponsible.") Jane Lorin Westlake Village
