Gigi the giraffe brightens hospital for kids
      HEALING STATUE— Local children gather around a 5-foot papier mache giraffe named Gigi that brightens up the hall at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center. The giraffe was a community project at Pandora's Paintbox Craft Studio in Newbury Park.

      Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but it doesn't have to be, according to staff at the California Health and Longevity Institute at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village. Conference will seek to inform public about consequences of brain injury
      Organizers want Ventura County's first brain injury conference in Oxnard this month to alert the public to the possibility and consequences of a brain injury and the need for more services. In recognition of March as Brain Injury Awareness Month, the Ventura County Brain Injury Conference will take place March 21 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
