Purim celebrated at Conejo Chabad
Chabad of the Conejo will celebrate the holiday of Purim with a family festival titled "Purim Live: An Interactive Experience" at 7:30 p.m. Mon., March 9 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village.
The event will feature the reading of the Megillah (Book of Esther), graggers (noisemakers which are used at the mention of Haman's name), refreshments and hamantaschen (special Purim pastry), a masquerade contest and an interactive show which will re-create the story of Purim for children and adults.
There is a $5 fee per person. Reservations can be made at www.JewishAcademy.com.
Chabad will conduct morning services with the reading of the Megillah at 6 a.m. Tues., March 10 at the Chabad Center, 2524 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village, and at 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. at the Chabad Center, 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills.
Purim is a Jewish holiday commemorating the deliverance of the Jewish people from the hands of a Persian chamberlain, Haman, who plotted to annihilate them.
