Local Ireland expert to speak on St. Pat's Day
"Irish" John Gore, local expert on the history of Ireland, will be the featured speaker at Soroptimist International of the Conejo club meeting at 6 p.m. Tues., March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) at the Thousand Oaks Inn, 75 W. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Gore will speak on growing up near Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Trek for Troops, comprising Scott Williams, Matt Walker and Paul Rose, will sing songs they have written to publicize their upcoming trip from the Mexican to the Canadian borders.
They are working to raise money for Homes For Troops, an organization that raises funds to build homes for disabled veterans who have been injured while serving their country.
The cost for the meeting is $10, which includes dinner.
Soroptimist International is a service group of professional women who raise money for many local nonprofit organizations.
