      A motorcyclist who was injured on Jan. 26 on Calle Tulipan wasn't doing a wheelie when the accident occurred. This was how the crash was described in the Jan. 29 edition. Two witnesses, according to a family member, said the motorcyclist wasn't showing off, like the police report said.

The number of violent crimes increases slightly in Thousand Oaks

      The city of Thousand Oaks saw an overall crime rate decrease of 8 percent last year compared to 2007, although the number of violent crimes has increased slightly. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department's released 2008 crime statistics last week.

T.O. man arrested on charge of fraudulently using funds
      Mohammad Afzal Sarwary, 42, of Thousand Oaks was arrested on one count of grant theft of government housing funds. The Ventura County district attorney's office's government fraud unit was investigating public assistance fraud allegedly committed by Sarwary during the past several months.

Male thief a repeat offender at fitness centers, police say
      An ordinary-looking man is suspected of burglarizing lockers at about 15 separate 24 Hour Fitness locations throughout Southern California. According to police, the first incident occurred early in 2008. His last alleged offense was in T.O. on Dec. 30. In that incident, he was chased into the parking lot by employees but escaped.

Suspect pleads not guilty in case involving fatality and alleged drug use

      A Westlake Village man charged with selling hallucinogenic mushrooms that led to a teenager's death pleaded not guilty last week at U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Stephen Roman was indicted by a federal grand jury last month on charges that he sold hallucinogenic mushrooms to a group of young people in a Thousand Oaks apartment in 2004.
