Goodbye and good riddance to Costco
      Am I the only person in Newbury Park who was thrilled to see the Costco bulldozers leave? Am I the only one who misses bright stars in the sky and horses off the Wendy exit? If anyone thinks that they need a Costco on every corner, look around; the mega-mart stores of America ruin the character of our community. We do not benefit.

What kind of math was used to justify school closures?
      This is an open invitation to Conejo Valley Unified School District board members Buckles and Phelps- who has a bachelor's degree in mathematics- to explain how school closures help students. The closure process started before their election, the board aiming to save $1.3 million, or 1 percent of the budget, by closing 6 percent of the schools.

      My husband and I have been living in Thousand Oaks for almost 25 years, and I have always loved reading the letters to the editor. I've noticed over the past few years that many of the letters have become increasingly negative, especially from one particular person.
