Free clinic has new executive director
      The board of directors of the Conejo Free Clinic in Thousand Oaks recently appointed Teresa Seeley as the clinic's executive director, effective immediately. Seeley succeeds Sharron Baird, co-founder and former executive director. Baird retired on Dec. 31 after 32 years of service.

Use caution with space heaters
      Nearly three in four people killed in home heating fires in 2006 died in fires that involved stationary or portable space heaters, according to a new report released by the National Fire Protection Association. Ventura County's Red Cross is one of the highest performing chapters
      The American Red Cross of Ventura County has been named one of the highest performing chapters in the country by the National American Red Cross headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Ventura County Chapter was one of only three chapters in California and the first in Southern California to receive the recognition.
