City Manger Scott Mitnick plans to speak at the Feb. 4-6 City Manager Department Meeting in Monterey. He'll also attend the March 14-18 National League of Cities (NLC) annual Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C.

Assistant City Manager Linda Pappas Díaz attended the Jan. 21 League of California Cities (LCC) Public Safety Policy Committee in Sacramento.

Four City Council members attended the Jan. 21-22 LCC Policy Committee Meetings in Sacramento: Tom Glancy, the community services, transportation, communications and public works committee; Dennis Gillette, public safety; Jacqui Irwin, housing, community and economic development; and Andy Fox, employee relations.

Glancy, who's on the information technology and communications policy and advocacy steering committees, and Gillette, who's on the public safety and crime prevention policy and advocacy steering committee, will attend the March 14-16 NLC Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C. Irwin will also attend.

Irwin, Fox, Gillette and Glancy will attend the April 2-3 LCC Policy Committee Meetings in Los Angeles. They'll also attend LCC Policy Committee Meetings in Sacramento June 25 and 26 and in San Jose Sept. 16 through 19.

Glancy and Gillette will attend the Nov. 10-15 NLC Congress of Cities and Exposition in San Antonio, Texas.

"Having council members travel to Washington, D.C., and Sacramento to lobby for local infrastructure projects, legislation, and provide expert testimony frequently results in a high rate of return to the community," Mitnick said.
