State Sen. Tony Strickland (RThousand Oaks) was named vice chair of health and a member of the energy, utilities and communications committees.

"Healthcare is an issue of extraordinary importance to everyone in California, and I will fight to make sure that Californians have access to quality, affordable healthcare," said Strickland.

As a member of the energy committee, Strickland will push for a more efficient economy and the creation of green jobs.

Strickland represents the 19th Senate District, which includes portions of Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties.

Probate proceedings move to juvenile courthouse

All probate, conservatorship and guardianship of the estate matters will take place at the Juvenile Courthouse in Oxnard. These matters were previously handled at the Hall of Justice in Ventura.

Calendars will be heard on the second floor in Courtroom J6, unless otherwise assigned. Judge Kent M. Kellegrew will continue to preside over these matters. Probate processing will be on the first floor in the clerk's office, room 122.

All juvenile delinquency, dependency, adoptions and guardianship of the person matters will continue to be heard at the Juvenile Courthouse, 4353 E. Vineyard Ave., Oxnard, in the Juvenile Justice Complex.

Assembly member appointed as committee vice chair

Assemblymember Audra Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) was recently appointed by Speaker Karen Bass as vice chair of the Assembly Accountability and Oversight Committee for the 2009-10 legislative session.

"I am honored to have been named the vice chair of such an important committee. Especially in light of our fiscal problems, my top priority is to aggressively target fraud, waste and abuse in government programs and spending," said Strickland. "The financial welfare of future generations will depend on our ability to increase government accountability to California's hardworking taxpayers."

The committee will hold hearings on legislative bills and issues relating to administrative review of government programs and departments.
