Gluten-free grocery store opens Saturday
Simply Gluten Free, a onestop shopping glutenfree company, will launch the grand opening of its first grocery-style store at 10 a.m. Sat., Jan. 31 at 1321 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Ste. A108, in the North Star Shopping Center across from Roxy's Deli, Thousand Oaks.
Festivities will include free Gluten-Free Living magazines to the first 100 customers, gluten-free samples from numerous manufacturers and information from such organizations as the Celiac Disease Foundation, the Celiac Sprue Association and ROCK (Raising Our Celiac Kids).
Simply Gluten Free is the only strictly gluten-free store of its kind in the area.
The store offers a broad and diverse inventory of products that include grocery items, books, cookbooks, specialty gift items and gift baskets for all occasions.
Products are carried from such gluten-free manufacturers as The Sensitive Baker, Yummy Bites, Laura's Wholesome Junk Foods, Dr. Schar, 123 Gluten Free, Shabtai and Charlotte's Bakery.
The store offers services such as special ordering of products not readily available on the West Coast, nutritional labeling for every product and free delivery to residents of the Conejo Valley.
Product shelves will be labeled with nutritional information designating which items are casein free, soy free, nut free, dairy free, sugar free and kosher.
A strict gluten-free diet is the sole treatment for patients with celiac disease.
Gluten-free diets are also beneficial to individuals who suffer from wheat allergies, gluten intolerance and autism.
