La Reina welcomes new students

Entrance placement tests scheduled

La Reina High School will conduct an entrance placement test for prospective students on Sat., Jan. 31. The application deadline is tomorrow., Jan. 30.

Prospective students for 200910 have the option of spending a school day at La Reina, shadowing a student and visiting classes.

La Reina is a Catholic college preparatory school for young women in grades seven through 12. The school provides a spiritual and academic foundation in a nurturing environment.

Established in 1964, La Reina is sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association.

Current enrollment is 620 students with an average class size of 24. Admission of students is selective, and students of all faith backgrounds are welcome to attend.

As part of the religion curriculum, students complete service hours through local churches or nonprofit organizations. During 2007-08, the students donated 18,981 hours.

A comprehensive activities and athletics program is available, with students earning local and regional recognition, particularly in mock trial, speech, journalism, the arts, leadership and athletics.

In addition, the varsity cross country team won the California state title in 2008.

Graduating classes have 100 percent college acceptance.
