New president leaves her full of optimism

2009-01-29 / Letters

Positive thinking, seeing and feeling makes our bodies and hearts happy. I've never felt so good about our world and all the people in it as I felt watching all the events before, during and after Jan. 20.

President Obama, First Lady Michelle and their children, Malia Ann and Natasha, changed the way I think about all mankind.

Having a black president who said what's really going on in our government and his seeing the greed that's caused the shaky economy gave me new hope. What he said was the truth, with no coverup.

Watching the faces of the people of all ages light up, and hearing them say, "I pledge to help our country any way I can" made me glad and proud to be an American.

President Obama said, "There are no differences in races. We are all Americans."

Our president is God-sent, a man who has all of us on his side, a compassionate man who cares.

I've always assumed that I'm just a little cog in the wheel of our government and it doesn't matter how I feel.

There will always be a "pork barrel" Congress and others taking federal tax money and building bridges to nowhere- - just to make constituents vote for them.

Why? I always felt that they thought we were so dumb that we didn't know or care what was going on.

Well, they were wrong.

President Obama is speaking for all of us and he sees this, and he and his wife are looking at us as people who care about our country and what happens in our America.

I've tried to keep my little corner of the world as positive and happy as it can be.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle: you've made our dreams come true.

Thank you! Kristal Watters Thousand Oaks
