People of all ages, from beginners to experts, are invited to join the 10th anniversary of the Great Backyard Bird Count at 8 a.m. Sun., Feb. 15 at Mountains Restoration Trust at Headwaters Corner, 23075 Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas.

This occasion includes the entire United States and Canada and provides information about bird population trends to better serve conservation efforts.

Last year's participants submitted more than 60,000 checklists.

The event is sponsored by Cornell University, the National Audubon Society and in part by Wild Birds Unlimited. The information is sent to Cornell University, the main clearinghouse for data on birds.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars as only a few will be available on site. Space is limited and preregistration is required. There is no charge to attend.
