McKee a top scoring option for NPHS girls' water polo team
      When Carley McKee was in the fifth grade she earned a black belt in karate. Having gone as far as she could in one sport, she looked to start another one. Thankfully for Newbury Park High, she chose water polo. Although water polo gives no belts to the best athletes, you can be assured that McKee, now a senior, is playing at the highest level.

10 questions with Westlake's Brittany Pillado
      Westlake High senior Brittany Pillado had a good weekend. The 17yearold wrestler finished second in the 118pound division during Saturday's CIF Southern Regional girls' wrestling championships at Oxnard High. Because of her result, Pillado qualified for the state championships next weekend at Hanford.

Team Apex gets its hands on some hardware
     WINNERS—The U-10 Apex SC B98 soccer team won its division at the inaugural Eagles Winter Classic in Camarillo. The team went undefeated in four games and allowed only two goals the entire tournament. Apex players include Oliver Chow, Lars Defty, Joe Holiday, Matthew Edelman, Ari Sidman, Dane Friesel, Dawson Waggoner, Spencer Griffith, Cole Thompson, Isaiah Garza, Anthony Holmes and Jose Ramos. Kyle Brazell, Havard Aschim and Ray Chow are the coaches.

Girls' lacrosse league seeks talent
      The Southern California Lacrosse Association is forming girls' lacrosse teams for the spring season in the communities of Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Calabasas, Agoura, Westlake, Simi Valley and Moorpark.
