Uncertainty about funding puts child care program on hold
      After determining that funds may be cut within the state budget, the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education voted against creating a child care program, although the issue will be revisited. The board voted unanimously against a contract with the city of Thousand Oaks to establish a Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning child care program.

T.O. resident makes dean's list at Cumberlands
      Thousand Oaks resident Jessica Lynn Gallippo has been named to the University of the Cumberlands dean's list for the fall 2008 semester. Fulltime students who have obtained a cumulative scholastic standing of 3.5 and have no grade of "I" are eligible for the dean's list.

WHS Instrumental Music Boosters kicks off business sponsorship blitz
      The Booster Association for the Westlake High School Instrumental Music Department has initiated a major campaign to enlist local businesses and enterprises as sponsors. The high costs of running a program with Westlake's broad scope has run up against the state's budget crisis, making the community's support necessary to the program's operation.
