In 1973 we arrived in Thousand Oaks and have watched it grow into a much larger city. Along the way, growth has had its critics, I being one of them. I haven't spoken out about the problems, but now is the time. One that keeps popping up is the Civic Arts Plaza repairs. More ... While your Jan. 15 edition headline says "Revenue continues to sag, city looks at options," our City Council is considering spending $89,000 for a city "branding" project. Citizens are upset, based upon comments at the Jan. 13 council meeting and in letters to the daily newspaper. More ... Regarding Superintendent Mario Contini's Jan. 15 column ("These are the times that try men's souls"), Thomas Paine also said, "The most formidable weapon against errors of every kind is reason." While these certainly are trying times and we are, indeed, in a major economic crisis, unfortunately, Mr. More ... I'm a University Elementary School mom who's heartbroken about the school closure. I have a child there and see first hand the stress it's causing our children. However, that being said, I think the school board needs to look at why enrollment is down in the first place . More ...
