T.O. man arrested by LAPD

Thousand Oaks resident Dennis Archie, 58, was arrested for commercial bribery on Jan. 12 by the Los Angles Police Department during a sting operation.

Archie, a decorated Los Angeles Fire Department inspector, allegedly demanded and received a $500 bribe from a board-and-care facility for inspection approval while the transaction was observed by LAPD detectives.

Archie was arrested and taken to the police department's West Valley station, where he was released on $20,000 bail. His next court date is set for Feb. 2.

LAFD spokesperson Ron Myers said the fire department was taking the allegations seriously and cooperating 100 percent with the police department. Los Angeles Fire Department internal affairs is going to investigate and make sure all the facts are determined correctly.

LAPD spokesperson Officer Sam Parks said the police department is assisting the fire department internal affairs office.

This arrest is one of the first originating from the newly organized Professional Standards Bureau, a Los Angeles Fire Department internal affairs unit.
