The government is the problem, not the solution

2009-01-15 / Letters

Typical of Tina Aschenbrenner Sandoval to write a letter about a man's tragic death and turn it into a perverted uninformed political statement filled with her usual dubious stories and irresponsible conclusions (T.O. Acorn letters, Jan. 8, "Looks forward to change in America").

Curious how Tina always has these racial problems considering she's the first to point out someone's color or gender in her many letters.

She then absurdly implies that the state's legal work force only consists of either "educated, Englishspeaking white or bluecollar Americans" or illegal workers, which is not only shortsighted but denies the fact that whites aren't even the majority in this state any longer.

Tina, how exactly does our respected U.S. congressman attack field workers that you just assume are all here illegally?

You mean when he attempts to enforce the law in a country based on laws? I know these days facts are irrelevant and good intentions triumph law over "change and social growth," but what about the connection between illegal immigrants and higher crime rates, the added cost to social services, laws to reward noncitizens over citizens, increased pollution, health concerns like TB, etc.?

You think any of that might be relevant or cause resentment?

Of course, Tina's letters refer to anyone who disagrees with her as haters and discriminatory bigots. Laws and democratic processes don't matter.

Tina, there's nothing new about Obama. He's proposing massive spending, tax rebates and possible higher taxes. Nothing new there, just look at our state as its debt increases and businesses and the middle class flee.

You're right about one thing, change is coming. People will realize that massive promises were made that can never be kept and that government doesn't grow the economy.

Again, look at our state! Government usually causes more problems not less; it created the crisis and now it's going to fix it?

Things won't get better until reality sets in and people relearn that holding leaders of both parties accountable, along with rewarding responsible businesses and hardworking citizens, are the only solutions- - but one can always hope. Mike Di Fatta Thousand Oaks
