Alzheimer's Association offers help for caretakers of people suffering from dementia The California Central Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is offering up to 29 hours of free respite care for people who provide care to those with dementia. Respite care is funded in part by the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. Respite care is designed to provide the primary caregiver with time free of patient responsibility to help alleviate stress that comes from being the primary care provider and an opportunity to explore possible solutions for long-term care needs. The Alzheimer's Association will provide the service to those who are age 60 or older with dementia in the Ventura County area. The association works with several professional Ventura County healthcare agencies to provide respite care to families. To request help or for more information, call (805) 485-5597 or e-mail nfeatherston @centralcoastalz.org with "Respite Care" in the subject line. |
