City and residents should welcome the movie makers

Regarding the T.O. Acorn story of Jan. 1, "Filmmakers want new ordinance so they can focus on Thousand Oaks": We elect the Thousand Oaks City Council to decide how best to successfully manage our city, not individuals who often think only of themselves.

Thousand Oaks has a tradition of filmmakers coming here to shoot fabulous movies, and this is no time to stand in their way.

Seventy-five years ago, most Hollywood westerns were shot in our valley, and just last year "Frost/Nixon" was sucessfully shot down the block.

I think it's great, and Thousand Oaks should encourage all movie makers to keep coming back.

It's good for the city's reputation, our coffers, and I find it exciting to be a part of one of America's greatest contributions to the world- Hollywood movies. Ray Holm Thousand Oaks
