UCLA to present Writers Studio

UCLA Extension will present the 2009 Writers Studio, four days of intensive writing workshops held Feb. 5 through 8 at 1010 Westwood Center, Los Angeles.

The studio brings together a community of aspiring creative writers and screenwriters to work with accomplished instructors. Writers of all levels are welcome.

Participants choose one of 10 workshops in which they work closely with a professional writer in a class of no more than 18 students.

Each workshop is the equivalent of a 10-week, three-unit course, which participants have the option of taking for a grade.

Screenwriting classes cover comedy writing, character archetypes, crafting the script and creating powerful scenes and sequences.

Creative writing seminars discuss memoirs, personal essays, nurturing the writer and writing the first novel.

The fee is $775.
