Cabrillo Music Theatre presents 'Breaking Up Is Hard to Do'
The Cabrillo Music Theatre presents the West Coast premiere of the new musical celebrating the music and the legend of Neil Sedaka, "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," at the Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
The run is Fri. to Sun., Jan. 9 through 18. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
A post-show discussion with cast, staff and audience will follow the 2 p.m. matinee on Sat., Jan. 10.
The show has a book by Erik Jackson and Ben H. Winters, with lyrics by Neil Sedaka, Howard Greenfield and Cody Philip. The production is directed and choreographed by Troy Magino, with musical direction by Michael Paternostro.
Set in the Catskill Mountains in 1960 where Sedaka got his start, the musical features such classics as "Where the Boys Are," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "Calendar Girl," "Laughter in the Rain" and the title tune.
Cabrillo Music Theatre's production also features an onstage band and new scenery and costumes.
