With community service CLU basketball helps others
For winter break, California Lutheran University women's basketball coach Roy Dow has set up a schedule of games, practices and community service.
The team participated in the Posada Royale Tournament CLU hosted on Dec. 28 and 29. Dow, who became the team's head coach in July, decided community service would be a great way to fill the team's downtime until school starts again on Jan. 21.
"This is a great experience for the players, and it fits in with CLU's mission to educate leaders who are committed to service. It's also good for team building, fighting boredom and keeping their energy up," he said.
The team will sort food at FOOD Share in Oxnard and tutor children at First United Methodist Church in Thousand Oaks. They will also build homes for Habitat for Humanity and spend a day cleaning the YMCA of Conejo Valley property.
