New year legal issues will be discussed

Employers can learn about new 2009 legal issues that may alter the way they do business in the coming year at the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast of Champions from 7 to 9 a.m. Fri., Jan. 9 at the Los Robles Greens Banquet Center, 299 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.

Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. with an early bird drawing at 7 a.m.

Karen Gabler, with the attorney firm of Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton LLP, will discuss the new employment laws for 2009, including changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act, Brinker and meal/rest breaks, ADA (laws for the disabled), travel time pay and more.

Prepaid reservations are due by 2 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 8. Chamber members pay $18.50, and nonmembers pay $23.50.

Payment after Jan. 8 and at the door is $27.
