Entrants sought for agriculture art exhibit

The Ag Art Alliance presents the second annual Art About Agriculture Exhibit scheduled to run from Sept. 6 through Nov. 16 at the California Oil Museum, 1001 E. Main St., Santa Paula.

The exhibit will explore all the facets of agriculture from workers to water, from machinery to soil to the food on the plate.

The exhibition is open to all artists age 18 or over working in both two- and three-dimensional media who create art that in some way draws its inspiration from agricultural heritage or contemporary agriculture. That inspiration may include, but is not limited to, depictions of rural landscape, farm animals, farm products, rural life, or art that in a more abstract way deals with issues related to agriculture.

All styles of work are considered: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, batik, metals, and tapestry. Artists may enter a maximum of three works.

Work should not exceed 150 pounds and the size limit is 36 by 48 inches. Wall-hung work must be framed and ready for hanging. Works on paper should be glazed.

Selections will be made from digital images emailed to the alliance at agartalliance@gmail.com or sent by mail to PO Box 268, Santa Paula, CA 93061 (include return postage). Include name, contact information, medium, titles, sizes and prices.

Mailed submissions can be on a CD with one to three images, 35-mm slides, or color computer printouts; no PowerPoint or similar presentations.

Artists must submit a $30 non-refundable processing fee with checks or money orders payable to Ag Art Alliance.

Entries must be received by July 15. Acceptance notification will be made by July 31.

Work does need to be for sale to be eligible for the exhibit. The Ag Art Alliance and the California Oil Museum receive a 35 percent commission on all sales.
