Youth orchestra to perform

The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra will present the annual spring concert at 3 p.m. June 1 in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Elevenyearold cellist Matthew Chen will perform with the orchestra, playing the last movement of Lalo's "Cello Concerto" in D Minor.

The concert, titled "Imagine," will include music from various science fiction and adventure movies as well as Holst's "Mars and Jupiter" and Beethoven's "Lenore Overture No. 3."

Tickets are $19 for adults, $16 for seniors, and can be purchased at the theater's box office the day of the concert.

The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra offers young musicians the opportunity to perform with an orchestra at a high level.
