Please help cat adoptions

First, a compliment. We love your excellent, truly local newspaper, including the great Pet of the Week feature.

Second, a comment. We really appreciate the in-depth stories written about Josh Pasewaldt, Newbury Park Feed owner and "heroic dog and cat saver." These articles had a very positive impact on Josh's efforts to continue his awesome homeless animal rescue crusade.

Because the Acorn really seems to care about animals, we have a suggestion and request.

June is national Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and we believe an article in your paper, along with a "photo gallery" of cats available at the Agoura Shelter, could have a huge impact at this time; as more families lose homes, the number of pets surrendered to shelters has skyrocketed.

We could only dream of a halfpage spread of photos of all cats, with accompanying one or two lines about each, designed to convince that special person or family to "come get me and take me to my forever home."

We would gladly volunteer to help in any way, if your paper did this for these precious, adoptable cats. We have no connection with the Agoura Shelter, but are just true animal lovers.

For future reference, we're pretty sure October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

We love cats, too, and are looking into it.
