      Four area teams took different routes but ended up at the same place- the CIF-Southern Section Division I baseball playoffs. Westlake High won only three of its final 11 Marmonte League games, the most important victory being last Friday's postseason play-in game triumph over Moorpark.

      Expectations are high for area softball teams heading into Friday's first round of the CIFSouthern Section playoffs. In Division I, five schools from the eight-team Marmonte League made the postseason, including topseeded and undefeated Simi Valley High (27-0).

      Thousand Oaks High graduate Lauren Ritz, a freshman on the Yale women's tennis squad, has been named secondteam AllIvy League doubles. Ritz helped Yale captured its first conference crown since 1981.
