CRPD plans 'Sycamore to the Sea' hike

Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Outdoor Advisory Council will hold the annual Sycamore to the Sea hike at 9 a.m. Sat., May 17. Checkin will be at the Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park.

Volunteer naturalists will guide hikers down the canyon, stopping to discuss local wildlife along the way. The first mile of the hike is fairly steep, then levels out to an eight-mile slight downhill walk to the beach.

Sturdy shoes with good soles or hiking boots are recommended.

The hike ends with a buffet lunch on the beach.

The cost is $20, which includes lunch, a shuttle to the trail head and transportation from the beach back to Newbury Park. Preregistration is required.

Proceeds will support outdoor events in the community.
