Award to Gallegly was totally hollow

The Acorn's April 24 announcement of Elton Gallegly's receipt of the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce failed to note that this 2007 award was also given to 243 other members of Congress.

This total included 18 of 19 Republican members of Congress from California.

The Chamber of Commerce's award is nearly synonymous with being a Republican in Congress and is based totally on voting record.

None of the business issues listed by the Acorn as a basis for this award involved any initiative or leadership by Gallegly. Moreover, none of them relate closely to issues that Gallegly considers key issues- illegal immigration, terrorism, crime- according to his congressional website.
